Orange breathing means your Mr Beam has successfully registered with find.mr-beam.org. It is connected to your router and has internet access.
Chrome / Edge: If asked, allow local-network access for this site. To change a previous decision, open the site controls beside the address bar and check local-network permissions. Reload after changing permission.
Firefox: If asked, allow access to local-network devices. On desktop, check Settings → Privacy & Security → Permissions → Local network devices, where available. Mobile controls may differ.
Firefox permission helpSafari: Automatic reachability checks may be limited. If retrying does not help, open BeamOS directly using the fallback below.
Check this site's local-network permissions if your browser offers them. If no setting is available, try the direct-address fallback below.
On macOS, also check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network for your browser, if listed. Mac help
On iPhone / iPad, check Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network if your browser is listed. A missing entry does not mean access was denied. Apple help
A timeout alone does not prove access was blocked. On a managed network, ask your administrator; do not disable browser security.
Select MrBeam-XXXX in your computer or phone's Wi-Fi settings. Find the initial Wi-Fi access-point password on the back of your machine (use your current password if you have changed it). Once connected, enter http://10.250.250.1 in the browser's address bar.
Your computer is now connected to the Mr Beam's Wi-Fi access point, rather than your usual Wi-Fi. This may interrupt your computer's internet access unless the Mr Beam is also connected via Ethernet. You can still use BeamOS directly without internet access.
Your Mr Beam is on your local network but has no active internet connection. Connect to that network and open the machine's IP address as described below. For help restoring internet access, consult our knowledge base from a device with internet access.
Both connection options are available:
MrBeam-XXXX Wi-Fi. Find the initial Wi-Fi access-point password on the back of your machine (use your current password if you have changed it). Then open http://10.250.250.1.If you choose Mr Beam Wi-Fi, your computer is connected to the Mr Beam's Wi-Fi access point, rather than your usual Wi-Fi. This may interrupt your computer's internet access unless the Mr Beam is also connected via Ethernet. You can still use BeamOS directly without internet access.
Check that your Mr Beam is powered on and has finished starting up. Other light patterns can indicate a different machine state; consult your manual or support.
http://mrbeam-####.local, replacing #### with your machine's name.No router or internet connection is required to open BeamOS over Beamwire. Your computer can stay connected to its usual Wi-Fi; Beamwire does not automatically share that internet connection with Mr Beam.
For online features such as software updates and the Design Store, you can share your computer's internet connection with the Beamwire/Ethernet connection. Follow the operating-system-specific internet-sharing instructions in BeamOS's welcome dialog under “Beamwire direct connection to the computer”. On a managed computer, ask your administrator before changing network settings.
Not connecting? Check both cable ends and try another USB-C port. If necessary, restart your computer. If the address still does not open, contact Mr Beam support.
Find your Mr Beam's IP address in your router's connected-device list, or in your operating system's network overview if it lists nearby devices. Use the machine's address, not your computer's or router's address.
Type http:// followed by that IP address into your browser's address bar (not a search engine). A known machine hostname or bookmark also works, provided the machine is reachable.
